Charles R. Adams & Associates, Inc., To Save DiMucci Twin Towers Over $2 Million On Disaster Recovery Projects

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL. – Charles R. Adams & Associates, Inc., has announced significant progress in the ongoing disaster recovery efforts at the DiMucci Twin Towers in Daytona Beach Shores, culminating in between $2-4 million in savings for the association when compared to competing proposals. The firm’s innovative engineering solutions, including stabilization of compromised structures and installation of a state-of-the-art composite seawall, drive the continued success and savings achieved on this spotlight project.

A vibrant representation of one of the many cutting-edge applications for FRP composite, the project is marked by the expert implementation of a multifaceted design strategy. This includes utilizing the strongest composite sheet pile currently available, CMI's UC-95, a high-capacity modern helical screw anchoring system, all non-corrosive reinforcing and hardware, and a top-of-the-line Jet Filter weep system. Formwork and reinforcing for the cap is installed and ready for concrete placement. The pour is on standby pending approval of a proposed monolithic cap agreement for the south returns, which would provide the highest level of protection possible for both projects.

"Combining our structural and coastal engineering expertise has allowed us to maximize protection and achieve stability while realizing significant cost savings," said Jon Adams, the firm's Vice President. "This is value engineering at its finest. All the hard work pays off when we can make our vision a reality while saving the client a small fortune."

In the upcoming days, the team will install a c-channel, following which the helical anchors will be loaded in an attempt to straighten the separated corner. Installation of the Jet Filter System, a concrete wale beam, and a drainage system for the retaining wall is all expected within the next week or two.

Partnership with Florida Seawall Solutions, the project's contractor, has been instrumental in navigating the unique complexities of this job. The two companies look forward to their continued collaboration on numerous upcoming projects.

"This project truly embodies our commitment to delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions for oceanfront properties," Adams added.

Excellent work by the design team. The DiMucci Twin Towers seawall is among the first to be constructed post hurricane in Daytona Beach Shores. When pouring of the cap is complete, the property will finally have protection from erosion caused by future storms. The residents are fortunate to have a Board who acted quickly to secure the engineering services provided CRA. We are also grateful to CRA for their innovative approach to the unique challenges of our property and the associated cost savings. Thanks Jon!!!!

Thank you for the kind words Derek. We were very lucky to have such an effective and accommodating Board. The cooperation by the Project Team, which was hand-picked by the Board, was one of the best experiences of my career, thus far. This was the epitome of what can be accomplished when all parties work together to achieve a common goal. We look forward to continuing a long and prosperous relationship with DiMucci Twin Towers!!
